What kind of wheeling will there be?
The Minnesota Land Rover Club caters to members who own Classic 1950's collector Land Rovers to the latest models. Some members have standard vehicles, some have slightly modified vehicles for light wheeling, others have heavily modified vehicles. To cater for all types of vehicles and driver capabilities, we offer guided drives each day as follows:

Easy Route (Trail Route 1):
This can be driven by stock vehicles and follows the main trails, stopping a various viewpoints for photographs. This route should take between 2-3 hours.

Intermediate Route (Trail Route 2):
For these trails you will need a truck with rocksliders, Intermediate tires and may expect some minor paint scratches. The route will follow Skull Road. Berry trail, leaf lake loop and Horseshoe trail.

Advances Route (Trail Route 3):
For these trails you need rocksliders, lifted suspension, winch and off road tires. This route will follow Waynes World, Skull Road, Split Personality, Berry Trail, Leaf lake loop, Horseshoe Pass, and Money Talks, and could take all day.

Event Safety
The MNLR does NOT condone off trail riding, trespassing on state closed trails or destruction of natural resources. Please review the MNLR vehicle inspection and required equipment page. CB radios are strongly encouraged.
Alcohol and drug use on the trail is strictly prohibited.
Always watch you rear view mirror to ensure you keep the vehicle behind you in sight in case they have run into problems. The Club has a policy of never leaving a stranded vehicle behind, all drivers should wait and help a stranded member's vehicle.
Children and pets are invited to attend, however, safety is paramount. Please keep your children under your supervision and control and pets must be kept on tie-outs or leashes. Please clean up after your pets at all times.

Do I need any special licence stickers or noise limitation stickers to use the Gilbert OHV park trails
Non-Minnesota residents must purchase a non-resident ORV pass to use the facility or ride on state trails. All vehicles using the trails must have a current DNR licence sticker on their vehicle, which can be obtained at the Gilbert OHV office or at any Minnesota DMV office. All vehicles will be checked by the Rangers to ensure the vehicle exhaust noises levels comply with the DNR standards. So you do not miss the trail riders, either get you exhaust noises test on Friday, or early Saturday morning, noting the OHV park is open from 8am. We suggest if you do not have a current DNR sticker or do have the annual noise level sticker you arrive early on your first day, so you do not miss the guided trails, we will not wait.

Where can we stay for the event?
Most members prefer to camp at the Sherwood Forest Camp site at Gilbert which has sites for RVs and tents, plus has a direct track to the Gilbert OHV park. This site however gets very full quickly, so some members stay at the West Forty Camp site which around 3 miles from the Gilbert OHV Park.
For those who prefer the comfort of a Hotel after a hard days wheeling, the Super 8 Hotel at Eveleth, Minnesota which is six miles away is recommended 8am until 7pm.

What food should I bring for the Saturday night Grill out?
Attendees are responsible for their own meals/beverages at the campground and OHV park. There will be an optional group dinner on Friday evening at a restaurant to be determined. Lunches on Saturday and Sunday will be on the trail so plan accordingly. There will be a potluck dinner at the campground on Saturday evening. Please contact Fred Baer who is co-ordinating what people can bring for the Pot Luck on Saturday night.

How can I sign up for the event?
The event is open to all members of the Minnesota Land Rover Club and any out of state Land Rover owners who have pre-registered to attend the event. To pre-register please contact David Allton.
Please note is not possible to register for the event less than a week before the event or at the event.

What are the fees to attend?

Out of state Land Rover owners are welcome to join the event but must pre-register (see above).
